Psychotherapy and Counselling are ‘talking therapies’ and very powerful tools to aid emotional and psychological healing. In a nutshell, counselling tends to help you overcome a difficulty that you are currently experiencing, e.g. divorce, bereavement, or redundancy. Psychotherapy, on the other hand, generally addresses ongoing issues with long-term impact, which have arisen from past experiences.
People usually come to me because they cannot, or do not, want to talk about their issues to friends or family, often for fear of being judged. Sometimes friends or family are part of the problem! When we share our problems with those closest to us, they are mostly not equipped to help us see the way forward.
This is when talking to an independent and trained counsellor helps. There is no agenda other than to guide you to towards knowing and understanding yourself better, so that you are empowered to make your own decisions, to trust in those decisions and to follow them through. You know what is best for you.
As a psychotherapist and counsellor, it is my role to act as your mirror, so that when you look at your reflection you begin to see yourself truthfully. Together, we clarify your values and work towards bringing you into alignment with them, so that you learn to accept who you see looking back at you. YOU begin to trust in YOUR own innate abilities to guide YOU. This is where the empowerment lies.
I'd like to mention here that when people come to me for psychotherapy or counselling, our work together often evolves to incorporate my unique intuitive healing approach based on new evolving forms of Energy Psychotherapy.
This cutting edge approach works deeply at a cellular level has been found to work much more quickly than traditional psychotherapy when dealing with unrevealed traumas or hidden emotional blocks.
