Energetic healing : energy psychotherapy
Energetic healing is a very broad term that covers a wide variety of approaches and techniques. Unlike traditional healing methods, energetic healing systems take into account that we each have an energetic body and spirit, as well as a material body and mind.
Over many years of study and practice I have been guided to develop a unique energetic approach to psychotherapy that combines elements from several different energy therapies that work with the physical, emotional and energetic bodies. This draws on elements from Traditional Chinese Medicine such as acupressure, the meridians and dantians (chakras or energy centres), Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Psychoanalytic Energy Psychology (PEP).
HOW DOES AN ENERGETIC APPROACH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY WORK? We are composed of energy pathways and centres that are in dynamic interplay with every cell in our body, informing our moods, our thoughts and our behaviour. Eastern cultures know these as meridians and chakras. Western ‘Science’ has just begun to acknowledge that chakras and meridians exist, although there is a long way to go. Hands-on healing or distant healing has ancient roots and is well known and acknowledged throughout the world but energy psychotherapy is much more recent.
Unconscious emotional blocks and destructive beliefs may not even reveal themselves to your conscious mind but they can have a huge impact on your life. When beliefs become deep rooted, they become your truth, informing all of your actions and influencing your health.

When a trickle of water first runs over a rock there isn’t a pathway for it to follow, but, in time, it begins to create one. Eventually it forms a groove, becoming a fixed channel; even when the water stops flowing, the groove remains. In the same way, repetitive negative thought patterns form beliefs that create fixed patterns of behaviour, making it difficult, if not impossible, for us to change. You may have already noticed that willpower alone is not enough!
Intuitive or energy psychotherapy techniques can resolve fixed behaviours based around beliefs that do not serve you well - gently and swiftly releasing traumatic events that have become locked in the body-mind system. Working directly with energy consciousness provides us with a powerful method for change. Essentially we are allowing old unhealthy parts to die and actively creating something new, leading to the development of higher functions such as intuition and creativity, achievement of goals and improved health.
